Set up booking limits on memberships
Booking limits let you decide how many classes a member can book per day, week or month. You can set one shared limit for all classes, or give specific class types their own limit.
Booking limits are set on each individual membership, so all members with that membership get the same limits.
Go to "Prices" > "Memberships" > "Booking limits".
In the Booking limits section, you will find two things:
- Upcoming bookings: How many future bookings a member can have at the same time (Max number of future sign-ups). This works independently of the limits below.
- How many classes can a member book?: This is where you set limits per day, week or month.
How to set a limit for all class types
Use this option when all classes should count towards the same pool, e.g. "max 8 classes per month".
- Select the option: Go to "Prices" > "Memberships" > "Booking limits" and choose "Same for all class types" under How many classes can a member book?
- Enter your limits: Enter a number in one or more of the fields Per day, Per week and Per month. Leave a field empty if there should be no limit for that period.
- Choose how the month is calculated: If you have set a monthly limit, choose whether the month is calculated by Payment date or Calendar month.
- Livestream (optional): If you use livestream and the limit should only apply to classes in the studio, check "Only applies to in-person classes". Livestream classes can then be booked without a limit.
- Save: Click "Save".
How the periods are calculated
- Day is a calendar day.
- Week is Monday to Sunday.
- Month depends on your choice:
- Payment date (default): The month follows the member's payment period, e.g. from the 14th to the 13th. If the first period is shorter than a full month, the member gets a correspondingly lower limit. The number is rounded up.
- Calendar month: The month runs from the 1st to the last day of the month. The limit is the same every month, including the first one.
💡 Good to know: If the member pays for several months at a time and the month is calculated by Payment date, the monthly limit is multiplied by the number of months. This means the member can spread their classes over the period as they like. Seasonal memberships always calculate monthly limits by calendar month.
How to set different limits for specific class types
Use this option when some class types should have their own limit, e.g. "max 2 hot yoga classes per week", while the rest can be booked freely.
- Open the membership: Find the membership under "Prices" and click on it.
- Select the option: Choose "Different limits for specific class types".
- Add a limit: Click "Add limit".
- Choose class types: Select one or more class types under Applies to class types.
- Set the limit: Enter the highest number under Max and choose the period under Per (day, week or month).
- Choose what counts: Under Counts, choose what should count towards the limit: Studio and livestream, Studio only or Livestream only.
- Add more limits: Repeat for each limit you want. If one of the limits uses month, you also choose whether the month is calculated by Payment date or Calendar month.
- Save: Click "Save".
How the limits work together
- Class types without a limit: Class types you have not included in a limit can be booked without a limit. The form also tells you this: "All class types not mentioned above can be booked without a limit."
- Several class types in one limit: If you choose several class types in the same limit, they share one pool. "Max 4 per week" for Yin and Hatha means 4 in total, not 4 of each.
- A class under several limits: If a class is covered by more than one limit, there must be room in all of them before the member can book.
- Max set to 0: If you set Max to 0, the member cannot book that class type at all with this membership.
- The limit has no effect: If the form shows "The membership does not give access to the class types …", the limit has no effect, because the membership does not give access to those class types in the first place.
⚠️ Please note: This option replaces the shared limits per day, week and month. If you switch back to "Same for all class types", your class type limits will be deleted when you click "Save". The form will warn you before this happens.
